Foiled by a sale...

I love all the sale prices during the holidays, some things you can always count on finding cheaper around Christmas time (and likely even cheaper afterwards)! But one of my pet peeves is when you think you've found the best price and buy a gift, only to find it cheaper (sometimes much cheaper) elsewhere. What do you do? Do you buy the second and return the first? Do you laugh it off and stick with what you have? Or worse, do you buy the second and forget to return the first?

This happened to me recently. I found a piece of luggage for Mr. Savvy and I to take on our upcoming vacation, and it was 50% off and I had an extra coupon to use as well. It brought an expensive piece of luggage down to an affordable price. I bought it. Then, I found almost the exact same luggage last Friday at a department store on closeout, plus a coupon, for about half the price. Of course, being the frugal person I am, I bought the second piece and will return the first for a total savings of about $60.

However, what if it had been only a $20 difference? $50? What would you do?

I feel the exact same way in those situations. Whenever I see something at a lower price I just shrug it off and try to not let it bother me. Easier said than done, but I try to tell myself that I got a decent deal on it anyway.

I enjoy your blog! I just started one, hopefully I'll continue to write. http://doughynuts.blogspot.com

I have a $10 limit. I won't make the extra trip for less than $10.

I took the luggage back, $60 was worth it. I'm kicking myself now about the $25 I could have saved by using a coupon on a recent purchase, but there's nothing I can do about that.
