Localvore

Not really personal finance related, but it does have to do with resources in a way...

I was just reflecting on the food I ate yesterday (you think about food a lot when you are pregnant). For lunch, I made a spinach and garlic scape frittata with spinach and scapes from our CSA share, and eggs from a neighbor down the road. For dinner, we had steaks on the grill, with grilled bread and a fresh salad of mixed greens. The steaks were from the 1/4 beef we bought from a local farmer, the bread was from an artisan baker in the next town, and the salad was from our CSA. With the exception of olive oil, red wine vinegar, seasonings, and some grape tomatoes, I don't think any of our food traveled more than 50 miles to reach us. And they were probably the two best meals I've had in weeks!

And in case you are wondering... What is a localvore?
