doh! Our dryer went out... again.

This morning, as I was getting ready to leave for work, I noticed that the dryer was running. Knowing that Mr. Savvy wouldn't have put anything in the dryer, and my brother was sleeping soundly in his bed, I went to check it out. Sure enough, we had a tumbling dryer full of cold, wet clothes. I woke my brother up and asked him what time he put the clothes in and he said around 1am, so it was obvious that we had a problem. This the same dryer that we fixed back in April of 2005, but that time is was the belt and bearings that needed to be replaced, now it's the heating element. This time I think I'm going to replace it. We've been toying with the idea of buying a new water- and energy-efficient washer later this year, our washing machine is getting more and more difficult to keep balanced, I think something is wrong with the bearings and it's only a matter of time before it walks itself right out the door. I am thinking about just buying both now, but since I don't have my heart set on a matched set, it wouldn't kill me to replace just the dryer. Here's the dryer I'm leaning towards, and the unmatched washer. I don't want a front-loading washer because I like having the option of soaking things, and my super-excellent way of machine washing wool depends on having a top-loader. I do like that it doesn't have an agitator in the middle. Update: I did a quick check on Consumer Reports and the dryer I want is tied for first AND listed as a Best Buy, even at a slightly higher price. I'm going to go ahead and order it today and hopefully pick it up this weekend. Update 2: I ordered just the dryer on Sears.com. It's on sale, and I got 5% cashback ($25!) through FatWallet. Unfortunately, it's not going to be delivered to the store for almost two weeks.... lucky thing I have that clothesline!
