new washing machine comes today!
Today our new washing machine gets delivered... yippee! After reading Consumer Reports and doing lots of comparisons and research (as well as considering our budget), I decided on a front-loader - this beauty right here. I purchased it during a midnight madness online sale at Sears, so I got an additional 10% off the sale price of $799, plus another 5% off for FatWallet cash back. Delivery is free after rebate. I'm pretty excited about all the features, the sanitary cycle especially. I think it will be very nice to have with the new baby. I'm also looking forward to the high spin speeds for extracting more water, leading to less drying time, as well as the water and energy efficiency. I believe this new machine is about the same capacity, maybe a little bigger than our old one, but uses about 1/3 of the water! |

Oooh, I have a basic front loader. It is glorious. It is a great adjunct to a clothesline. The clothes come out nearly dry. They dry on the clothesline in no time! Congrats!
Watch out for Sears and rebates.
In the last four years, we have bought a new refrigerator, and a new stove and microwave from them.
The only rebate they willingly sent us was the one from the microwave for $10.
We filled out and mailed in the rebate forms exactly as asked, and they refused the $90 we had coming on the stove and the two $50 rebates on the delivery of the stove and the refrigerator. No reason was ever given.
We managed to have $90 credited to our Sears account when we complained to the salesman who'd sold us the stove, but we were never able to get the $100 owed us for the two deliveries.
When our 22 year old Kenmore washer died recently, we got a new heavy duty Kenmore. (free delivery, no payments no interest for one year, and no damn rebates)
While it's a pretty good washer, it's almost entirely made of plastic and I sincerely doubt it will last 22 years.
When we had bought our washing machine (front loader also) and began to wash our first portion of clothes, we just sat near it and looked how it worked. How could we live without washing machines long time ago I can't imagine.
Congrats on the new washer!
Nowadays there are so many devices that make our life easier and more convenient. And I can say that washing machine is one of these devices.
