Just about got swindled...
| We currently pay $24.99/month for our DSL connection, and about $24/month for our basic land line. I just received a call from our DSL and phone provider (CenturyTel, for anyone who cares), about a promotion they were running where I could get our basic phone, unlimited long distance, a DSL upgrade, and all the calling features (voice mail, call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting, call waiting caller ID, etc), for just $12/month more that what we currently pay. The price is good for one year, after that it goes up $10/month. Sounds like it might be a bargain, right? I was considering it, maybe by offsetting the cost with reducing our cell phone minutes, until I asked if I could cancel at any time. Of course I can, but the prices for our basic services would revert back to "standard prices in my area". I asked what those were. $39.99 for DSL and $29.99 for phone. That's $21/month MORE than I'm paying now for those exact same services. Basically, they were offering this "promo" to get me off the DSL plan I have right now, which is bare-bones and CHEAP. I politely refused and hung up. They'll have to try harder than that to lure me away from my cheap (for our area) DSL. |

post a commentI had at&t give me the metered rate for landline service since I never use it. It's about $8/mo compared to the $35/mo I was paying to have three way and call waiting on calls I never made.
I wish I could pay $24/month for internet...hm...I might have to look into other companies.
