September Net Worth +$12,306
| Yodlee has been giving me trouble this past month, refusing to show any of my accounts in the Net Worth screen, which means I'm back to doing the math myself. It looks like we had a pretty damn awesome month, and I hope it's not due to some error on my part! We exceeded our debt reduction expectations again! In the last four months, we have "paid off" (contributed to a high-yield savings account) $9,851 towards our credit card debt! I wish I had noticed we were that close, I would have put extra effort towards hitting the five-figure goal. A couple of items kept us from doing as well against the debt reduction as we had planned... 1. $300 in one-time finance charges. These are due to balance transfers, and have already been made up in interest earned. 2. Mr. Savvy took some time off at the beginning of the month with me to visit a sick family member. His job doesn't provide any paid time off. That combined with the holiday weekend meant two very small paychecks. 3. We had some unexpected plumbing work done that cost $489. Things that helped... 1. I cashed in $900 of i-bonds and applied them to our debt. 2. A stock that we owned a teeny, tiny amount of ($300ish) was bought out by another company, so we received a check, which I applied to the credit card debt. All-in-all, we made a $2,500 dent in our 0% debt (cash vs. credit card), which is respectable ($1,200 is from one-time stock/bond contributions, $1,300 is from excess income earned)... but the big winner this month is our retirement accounts, which saw a healthy $9,830 gain.

post a commentExcellent month for you. Good job!!!
Applying I-Bonds and stock sales to debt does not change your net worth. You have merely used existing assets to reduce existing liabilities.
No change in net worth.
yodlee (i use mycompass) has been doing that for me too! its so frustrating!!
Anonymous- if you look at the chart you can see that the decrease in value of the stock and i-bonds was taken into consideration. Also, $1,200 in i-bonds and stock wouldn't account for a $12,000 net worth increase.
