baby savvy update!
| I haven't posted an update on Baby Savvy in a long time! He's four months old today and doing great! He started daycare four weeks ago while I went back to work part time. He stays with Mr. Savvy's mom, who has done in-home daycare for 30+ years. There's three other baby boys there and Baby Savvy loves being around the other kids. It kinda breaks my heart that he likes it there so much, but it makes me very happy as well. I'm currently working three days a week, and will work my way up to four here soon. I will stay at four days per week for six weeks before I go back full time. I have great maternity benefits at work, getting 14 weeks off with almost full pay (the last few weeks were at 60%) and the option of working up to 12 weeks part time. We are pretty broke right now because I haven't had a full check in quite a while, and Mr. Savvy isn't working due to the cold, and we are paying daycare, but we are getting by. I'm still feeding Baby Savvy the most economical and healthy way possible, breast milk. I pump when I'm at work. It took us about six weeks to get into the swing of things when he was born (there's probably a learning curve for bottle feeding as well), but it was all worth it. Breastfeeding is so much easier than bottle feeding, and much, much better for both of us. We also still cloth diaper and absolutely love it. We've convinced a few other people to try it and have converted them as well. We've never changed bedsheets or clothes due to a diaper leak or soak through (spit-up is another story!), and Baby Savvy wears his night diaper for as long as 12 hours. I know that marketing plays a big role in how people feed and diaper their babies and I just wish that more people would give both breastfeeding and cloth diapering a try... they are two great ways to save money and time, as well as do what is best for baby. post a commentCould you please let us know which cloth diapers you are using? We are considering adoption in the next year and I would like to do cloth diapers. Obviously breast feeding won't be an option, though.
I couldn't agree with you more. I breast fed all my children and I also used cloth diapers. Although, I did use disposable when we went visiting and stuff. Otherwise cloth.
Keep up the good work! Being a mom and working is hard. Sounds like you have it all under control though.
JBS- We used prefolds with wool covers when Baby Savvy was a newborn. At 8 weeks, we switched to Mother-Ease diapers.

We bought most of our diapers used on Diaper Swappers.
Not to mention better for the planet! Babies go through a lot of diapers (not that I need to remind you).
