Time flies

It's been a long time since I last posted. Just a week after my last post I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! I've been really busy these last eight weeks, both with our new baby and our two-year-old son. The holidays just added to the flurry of activity in our house.

I've learned a few things these last couple weeks...

1. If one child is X amount of work, and the second child is Y amount of work, the total work associated with taking care of both of them is not just X+Y. It's something like (X+Y)^5... even with the oldest one potty-trained there just doesn't seem to ever be any real down-time at our house.

2. There's also something exponential going on with the laundry. I don't know how, but the pile of dirty laundry keeps growing, despite the fact that our machine is constantly running.

3. Your second baby will not be like your first baby. All the things I "learned" with my son, our daughter seems determined to make me relearn. She doesn't go to sleep the same way, she nurses differently, we had to learn new ways to soothe her and hold her, she is just determined to make her mark on our family already. Her playful personality is starting to show through already, we can't wait to watch her grow up!

I was really lucky to have our second baby via VBAC, which made recovery much easier than my c-section recovery, and has allowed me to have a lot of fun with both kids while on maternity leave.
